POKOTABI / Azuma Taiko
あづま太鼓
At Yahiro izakaya Azumadaiko in Sumida Ward, spend a relaxed evening over fragrant, bone-in tulip karaage and refreshing barley tea highballs.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Shaped with an exposed bone handle for easy eating, the tulip karaage is the house specialty worth ordering as soon as you sit down. Matching each freshly fried, aromatic bite with a chilled beer or a mugicha-hai (barley tea highball) eases you right into an unwinding evening drink.
Tucked into the residential streets of Yahiro in Sumida Ward, the izakaya Azumadaiko (あづま太鼓) offers a quiet, unpretentious atmosphere where guests can comfortably linger. A selection of accessible small dishes like salmon is also available, making the space just as welcoming for a low-key solo dinner as for a casual round of drinks with close friends.
The tavern operates from 5:00 p.m. to midnight and is closed on Mondays. Seat reservations are accepted, and payment is strictly cash only, so be sure to have physical currency on hand when visiting.
